Peter Arnett

Mr Arnett, who now teaches journalism in China, is visiting Southland this week as filming on a documentary about his life gets underway.

Born in Riverton and raised in Bluff, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his work in war-torn Vietnam, and carved a respected career with NBC, CNN, and National Geographic.

He’s one of only a handful of journalists to have interviewed Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

Mr Arnett will be speaking at SIT on Monday and will be filmed working with students studying at the journalism school named after him.

Auckland film production company Nixon Pictures is making the documentary.
